How to use Flatten PDF
- Add your PDF. Drag in the filled-in form or annotated PDF.
- Choose what to flatten. Form fields, annotations, or both.
- Flatten and download. Press Flatten PDF and download the locked-in version.
Why flatten a PDF?
- Submitting a form: flattening stops entries from being changed and fixes forms that look blank in some viewers or on phones.
- Before merging: two forms with the same field names can interfere with each other. Flatten them first, then merge.
- Sharing marked-up files: highlights and comments become part of the page, so everyone sees exactly the same thing.

Frequently asked questions
What does flattening do?
It turns interactive form fields and annotations into ordinary page content. They still look the same, but can no longer be edited.
Will my typed answers disappear?
No. Your answers stay visible on the page exactly as typed.
Does flattening hide sensitive information?
No. Flattening isn't redaction. To permanently remove information, use Redact PDF.
Is my file uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser.
