How to merge PDF files

  1. Add your PDFs. Drag files into the box above, or tap Select PDF files. You can add more at any time.
  2. Put them in order. Drag the cards, or use the ↑ and ↓ arrows. Tip: name files 01-…, 02-… and use Sort A–Z.
  3. Merge and download. Press Merge PDF, then download your combined file.

Private by design: your files stay on your device

Most online PDF tools upload your documents to their servers. PDFWisely's Merge PDF tool works differently: the merging happens entirely inside your web browser, using the open-source pdf-lib library. Your files are never sent to us, so there's nothing for us to store, view or delete.

You can check this yourself: load the page, turn off your internet connection, and the merge still works.

Tips for a clean merged PDF

Frequently asked questions

Is Merge PDF free?

Yes. There's no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on the number of files.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. The files are read and merged by your own browser, and the result is created on your device.

Is there a file size limit?

There's no fixed limit. Because merging runs on your device, very large files (hundreds of MB) depend on your device's memory. On older phones, merge large files in smaller batches.

Will merging reduce the quality of my PDF?

No. Pages are copied exactly as they are, so text, images and layout stay unchanged.

Can I merge PDFs on iPhone or Android?

Yes. The tool works in Safari, Chrome and other modern mobile browsers. Select files from your Files app, iCloud Drive or Google Drive.

Why won't one of my files merge?

The usual reasons are a password-protected PDF, a damaged file, or a file that isn't really a PDF (for example, an image renamed to .pdf). The tool will tell you which file caused the problem.

Are bookmarks and links kept?

Page content, including visible text and images, is kept. Bookmarks (the outline panel) from the original files and some interactive links may not carry over to the merged file.
